If you’re a fan of Channel 4’s cult dating show First Dates then you’ll already be familiar with Paternoster Chop House. The official First Dates restaurant is set in the shadow of St Paul’s and makes a great date spot even when the cameras aren’t filming. It’s not the best choice for a vegetarian date. The focus here is on meat, hearty portions and ingredients with provenance. Every dish is based on the best seasonal produce so the menu is regularly updated to reflect the items available. Even so, you can expect to treat your date to beautifully-executed traditional dishes such as steak and kidney pudding and grilled lobster, as well as every imaginable cut of Aberdeen Angus steak. Be sure to save room for dessert; nobody can resist the sticky toffee pudding.
